Job description: Details:Mission and objectives:UNDP believes that the people of Indonesia should have ownership over the programmes and projects we support. All UNDP programmes therefore actively promote the spirit of mutual respect, support and accountability and subscribe to the principle of national ownership as enshrined in the Jakarta Commitment – a declaration put forward by the government and its development partners in 2009 to strengthen aid effectiveness in Indonesia. In the true spirit of national ownership, all of UNDP’s assistance in Indonesia is implemented by national entities, including line ministries and the Ministry of National Planning and Development, and at the subnational level by line departments, provincial and district authorities as well as community groups.While each programme supported by UNDP has specific and varied objectives, capacity development is one aim that all UNDP programmes – in Indonesia and worldwide – have in common. This takes on many forms including institutional reform, leadership development, education, and training for members of the public such as journalists, and women’s communities. In line with this logic, UNDP advisers work side by side with Indonesian counterparts to strengthen capacities in technical matters, policy formulation and budget planning, amongst others.Context:The Climate Promise Project aims to leverage Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to achieve net-zero emissions and climate-resilient development in response to the climate emergency by advancing Indonesia’s NDC targets within the energy sector. This involves facilitating the development of net-zero pathways for private companies, formulating policy recommendations to augment energy sector targets, and assisting the Indonesia Environment Fund (IEF) to support the implementation of domestic carbon credits. By the project’s conclusion, it anticipates the completion of 50 mitigation studies by companies committed to net-zero emissions, training 200 government officers and 150 non-party stakeholders to reassess energy policies, validating 70 mitigation actions for carbon certification. The project primarily collaborates with private sector entities to adopt net-zero emission targets, catalysing national net-zero ambitions.The Climate Promise in Energy Sector Project is seeking a dynamic and skilled Writer and Media Engagement Officer to support the project’s closure and ensure sustainability as part of the exit strategy. This role is important in effectively communicating the project’s achievements, lessons learned, and future potential to a broad audience, including government counterpart, stakeholders, partners, and the public.Task description:Under the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator of Climate Promise, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:1. Provide support to the team and work closely with UNDP Communications to develop high-quality written content that captures the essence of the project’s achievements, including success stories, case studies, reports, and summaries of key findings, as required.
2. Assist the team in developing content for various platforms, including the UNDP web- site, social media, newsletters, and press releases, ensuring consistency in messaging and tone.
3. Assist the team to develop comprehensive activities reports that detail outcomes, impacts, and recommendations for future initiatives.
4. Assist the team in preparing project events related with promotional and awareness raising (training, webinar, etc).
5. Assist the team in developing and distributing media kits, press releases, and other materials to ensure accurate and widespread media coverage.
6. Assist the team in liaising with project stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, NGOs, and community groups, to ensure clear and consistent communication.
7. Collecting and compiling significant information and evident from project implementation processes and results as lessons learned and best practices in communication and media engagement for future reference and replication.Requirements:the field of Communications.Demonstrated interest and/or experience in marketing and communications areas.
- At least three (3) years relevant professional experience of working on development initiatives and project/programme management with focus on communication and climate change areas.
- Experience working with UNDP Indonesia is strongly desired.
- Able to work both in team and independently with little or no supervision.
- Experience in producing written content that captures the essence of the project’s achievements, including success stories, case studies, reports, and summaries of key findings.
- Proven experience in engaging content for various platforms, including the project web- site, social media, newsletters, and press releases, ensuring consistency in messaging and tone.

Jakarta’s climate is generally hot and humid, with the Indonesian wet and dry seasons dividing the year in two. Average temperature is in the upper 30°C range year-round, and the rainy season lasts between November and March.Jakarta offers various housing options, from modern apartments in central areas to more affordable rentals in suburban districts. Central locations are convenient but tend to be more expensive. The city is known for heavy traffic congestion, but the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and TransJakarta buses, along with ride-hailing services, provide effective travel solutions.Basic utilities such as electricity and water are generally available, though service quality can vary by area. Healthcare facilities include both public hospitals and private clinics, with private options often preferred for their higher standards. The cost of living is moderate.
